Driver CPC & Licence Expiry Tracking

FleetForge helps UK transport operators track driver CPC and licence expiry dates by storing expiry dates for every driver's licence, CPC certificate, and medical, then sending automated alerts before each deadline. FleetForge can be used to prevent unlicensed drivers from being allocated to jobs, reducing the risk of fixed penalty notices and prohibitions.

What FleetForge does for this

Automated expiry alerts

Receive warnings before driver licences, CPC certificates, and medicals expire. Configure alert windows so you have time to arrange renewals before deadlines pass.

Job allocation protection

FleetForge prevents unlicensed drivers or drivers with expired CPC from being allocated to jobs. The system flags drivers who cannot legally drive before a job is assigned.

Driver licence and CPC tracking

Store licence numbers, licence types (B, C, C1, CE, D, D1, DE and more), CPC expiry, and medical expiry for every driver. See at a glance which drivers are approaching deadlines.

Training records management

Track CPC periodic training, driver qualifications, and training expiry dates. Link training records to drivers for a complete compliance picture.

Working time and hours monitoring

Monitor driver hours against UK and EU drivers' hours rules and the Working Time Directive. FleetForge tracks weekly and fortnightly driving totals.

Document storage

Upload and store licence copies, CPC certificates, and medical forms. Link documents to drivers for instant retrieval during an audit.

How it works

1

Add your drivers

Enter driver details including licence number, licence types, CPC expiry, and medical expiry dates during onboarding or at any time.

2

Set your alert windows

Configure how many days before each expiry you want to be alerted — 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on how much notice you need.

3

FleetForge monitors and alerts

The system checks expiry dates daily and sends alerts when a driver's licence, CPC, or medical is approaching expiry.

4

Prevent illegal allocations

When scheduling jobs, FleetForge flags drivers whose licences or CPC have expired, preventing them from being assigned to drive.

UK compliance context

UK law requires that drivers of goods vehicles and passenger-carrying vehicles hold the correct licence entitlement and a valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). Driving without a valid licence or CPC is an offence that can result in fixed penalty notices for the driver and potential action against the operator's licence.

Drivers of HGVs and PSVs must also hold a valid medical certificate (D4 form), typically renewed every five years from age 45, and annually from age 65. Operators are responsible for ensuring their drivers are legally entitled to drive.

For official guidance, see the UK government's pages on Driver CPC requirements and checking driving licence information.
